Our Media & Privacy

At The Young Chefs Culinary Academy, we believe children learn best when they feel confident, present, and supported. To balance family connection with a focused learning environment, we use limited, intentional media practices outlined below.

Purpose of Media Use

Media (photos, short video clips, or limited live viewing) may be used for the following purposes:

  • Allowing families to feel connected to their child’s experience
  • Celebrating student growth and accomplishments
  • Sharing private class highlights with enrolled families
  • Marketing and promotional use (only with consent)

Live Viewing (“Parent Peek-In”)

  • Live viewing is optional, limited, and instructor-controlled
  • Offered only during designated moments or programs
  • Cameras are stationary and focused on the learning space, not individual children
  • Audio may be limited or instructor-only
  • Live viewing is not recorded

Photos & Video Highlights

  • Photos or short video clips may be captured during class
  • Shared privately with enrolled families or used for promotional purposes
  • No student names will be used publicly without written permission

Privacy & Security

  • Media is shared only through secure, private platforms
  • Access is limited to enrolled families and authorized staff
  • We do not sell or distribute media to third parties.

Child-First Commitment

Our instructors prioritize student engagement, safety, and confidence. Media will never interfere with instruction or place pressure on children to “perform.”

If you have questions or would like to update your consent preferences at any time, please contact us directly.

Peek & Play with Kids

View Kids Safely

Our visibility model is intentionally designed to support children’s emotional development, confidence, and focus at each stage of growth. As students mature, we gradually shift from parent reassurance to student independence—mirroring real-world learning environments and professional kitchens.

Visibility options fall into three categories:
Limited Live Visibility, Private Highlights, and No Live Viewing.

Age-Appropriate Visibility

To support healthy independence, visibility varies by age group.

Who this applies to:

  • Little Chefs and Bakers (ages 5–7)

We understand these are littles and parents may be nervous. We have 2 peek-in times per class in this age group.

  • Junior Chefs and Bakers (ages 8–12)

Limited live visibility and prive highlights.

  • First-time camps or trial classes

Who this does not apply to:

  • Teen Chefs and Bakers (ages 13-17)

Teen programs are designed to reflect:

  • Real culinary school environments
  • Professional kitchen standards
  • Workplace expectations

Students in this age group benefit from:

  • Full ownership of their work
  • Increased accountability
  • A pressure-free environment to experiment, fail, and grow

Just as parents do not observe teens in:

  • School classrooms
  • Sports practices
  • Jobs or internships

We intentionally remove live visibility to support maturity, leadership, and professionalism.

What families can expect:

  • Optional Parent Peek-Ins lasting 5–10 minutes
  • Offered at designated moments only
  • Instructor-controlled, wide-angle viewing
  • No recordings
  • May be combined with private photo/video highlights

Privacy & Respect

  • Media is shared only through secure platforms
  • Access is limited to enrolled families and authorized staff
  • Media is never sold or shared with third parties

Growing Skills

Our visibility model is developmental, not restrictive:

  • Younger students → reassurance & gentle independence

  • Middle students → confidence & autonomy

  • Older students → professionalism & ownership

This progression helps children:

  • Build internal motivation
  • Develop resilience
  • Take pride in their skills without external validation

A Note on Equity & Privacy

Visibility options are standardized by age and program to ensure:

  • Fairness across families
  • Respect for student privacy
  • A consistent learning experience

Individual accommodations may be considered when necessary for safety or accessibility, but visibility levels are not adjusted on a case-by-case basis.
