Safe Cooking Tips

Our classes take place in a professional kitchen environment. Safety is our top priority, and all students are expected to follow kitchen rules and instructor guidance at all times.

Kitchen Safety Rules

Students must:

  • Follow instructor directions immediately and consistently
  • Use tools and equipment only as instructed
  • Practice proper handwashing, sanitation, and food safety
  • Remain aware of their surroundings and fellow students
  • Treat all equipment, ingredients, and people with respect

Kitchen Tools & Equipment

  • Students will be introduced to kitchen tools appropriate for their age and skill level.
  • Certain equipment may be restricted based on age or readiness.
  • Instructors reserve the right to modify or limit tool use for safety at any time.

Behavior & Participation

  • Unsafe, disruptive, or careless behavior is not permitted in the kitchen.
  • Students who are unable to follow safety guidelines may be asked to pause participation or observe for the remainder of the class.
  • Continued safety concerns may result in dismissal from the program without refund.

Instructor Authority

  • Instructors have full authority to make real-time safety decisions.
  • Safety interventions may include activity modification, reassignment, or removal from a task or class.
  • These decisions are made to protect all students and staff.

Commercial Kitchen Environment

  • Classes are held in a shared or commercial kitchen space.
  • Students must follow additional safety protocols required in professional food environments.
  • Parents acknowledge that participation involves inherent kitchen risks, which are mitigated through supervision and training.

Why This Policy Exists

This policy allows us to:

  • Maintain a safe learning environment
  • Teach professional kitchen standards
  • Protect students, instructors, and facilities
  • Create a calm, respectful, and focused classroom culture

Safety comes first. Students must be able to follow instructions and demonstrate safe behavior to participate fully.
